These programmes nurture French popular culture, with recurring main characters, values and stories that become shared cultural references, whilst also encouraging democratic debate, fuelled by thoroughly researched, respectable news content that people can rely on. In this way, the TF1 group is helping to bring the country together as its work contributes to the national interest.
TF1, a leading actor in the french broadcasting industry
Thanks to its unique position in the French TV broadcasting landscape, the TF1 group continues to take a leading role at a time when radical economic, technological and social change is drastically transforming the media sector and society as a whole. The Group is determined to drive sector-wide change by keeping pace with the massive growth in on-demand use by the general public and providing the quality advertising inventory that brands need.
The TF1 group’s ambition is therefore to establish itself as the go-to free-to-air destination on the TV screen for high-quality news and family entertainment in France, whilst consolidating its leading position in linear TV and the advertising market. The TF1 group is aware of its responsibility as a leading media group and therefore works to address environmental and social challenges with firm initiatives to actively support diversity and inclusion, the environment, and social cohesion. This includes raising public awareness through its content (campaigns against bullying, sexism and climate change, promoting diversity, and contributing to high-quality democratic debate) and by supporting charities and assisting its advertising customers.
Support for content creation
The TF1 group has a strong, long-standing record of supporting French-language content creation. Around €400 million is invested every year for the creation of content in all its forms.
A source of high-quality news content
Every year €140 million is invested to provide high-quality reliable and respectable news content, whilst actively contributing to democratic debate. This pledge has resulted in over 1,126 hours of news programmes and over 10,000 news reports and either outside or studio interviews.
