After building several luxury hotels in Cuba (Varadero and Cayo Santa Maria), Bouygues Construction is currently designing and building new upmarket tourist complexes in the east of the island. Bouygues Construction is currently completing the Waterfront International Development, a vast 150,000-sq.-metre property development scheme in Trinidad and Tobago. Also on the island, the group is conducting design studies for the Trinitrain project, a
105-kilometre express train line. It is also working on a luxury hotel complex on the Turks and Caicos Islands. The Caucedo container terminal in the Dominican Republic (2003) and Highway 2000 in Jamaica (2004) have strengthened Bouygues Construction's presence in the Caribbean. Its post-tensioning subsidiary, VSL, delivered the Bridge of Unity in Mexico in 2003.
