Research and developmentThe Group’s innovation strategy emphasises environmental protection in developing new products, materials, processes and services.
Each of the Group’s business areas has its own research and development team. To support innovation within the Group, Bouygues SA draws on a specialist team, the e-lab, which develops innovations for the business areas. Click here to see the innovation and R&D page. For Bouygues’ R&D team, sustainable development is a factor of growing importance in business innovation and optimisation projects. And also in decision-support activities. The e-lab helps the business areas to make complex processes more efficient and to adjust pricing to market conditions. In sustainable construction, the e-lab recently developed an optimisation tool to calculate earth movements for DTP worksites. The e-lab also took part in precise energy measurements for Colas, Bouygues Telecom and Bouygues Construction, in order to develop applications for future worksites. More broadly, the e-lab team is studying energy and the best ways to make savings. Another aspect of the e-lab’s work is new technologies, particularly the design of innovative products and services. The R&D team worked with ETDE to develop the next generation of lampposts, which use a remotely controlled electronic unit to provide a range of innovative features including remote-management of street lighting, energy management and high-speed communications services for local authorities, etc.
