Biography - Philippe Mahrer

Philippe Mahrer is a Director and Founding Chairman of the Collège des Ingénieurs. A graduate of École Normale Supérieure de la rue d’Ulm, he is readily involved in education and has taught economics at École Nationale des Ponts et Chaussées. He was a co-founder of the ENS Foundation where he was a director. He was Advisor to the Director of ENA, and a member of the ENA examination jury. He is currently Chairman of Associazione per la Formazione d’Eccellenza in Italy, which combines the Agnelli, Pirelli and Garrone Foundations. Philippe Mahrer stands in for the Vice-President of Armines, the Écoles des Mines collaborative research organisation. He took part in works that resulted in the LRU higher education law (freedom and responsibility of universities).
Philippe Mahrer is an officer of the Legion of Honour and was awarded the Grand Cross (1st class) of the Order of Merit of the Federal Republic of Germany.
