Medical

In the field of medical sponsorship, the Bouygues group provided support in 2010 for eight associations working for medical research.

Association Simon de CyrèneAssociation Simon de Cyrène

It was founded by Laurent de Cherisey and has developed structures that enable people with disabilities to live in independent studio apartments within large shared apartment buildings. Its aim is to create spaces where people can "live together" and which do not resemble conventional sheltered residences. These enable people who have suffered a major disability to resume normal activities and acquire a certain degree of independence. Each Simon de Cyrène community hosts an average of 60 people in a shared apartment building, 30 of whom are able-bodied and 30 of whom suffer from a disability as a result of an accident (head injury, etc.). A community requires the building of 3,000 m² of social housing units and "common living spaces".

In November 2011, a community apartment block was opened in Vanves, on the outskirts of Paris.
The charity has a number of projects currently being developed in ten towns and cities around France, such as Angers, Nantes, Bordeaux, Rungis and Dijon.

Philippe Pozzo di Borgo (the author of the book "Le second souffle" on which the film Intouchables is based) is the honorary chairman of Simon de Cyrène and, at his request, 5% of the film's box office takings (coproduced by TF1) will go to it. The money contributed by the film Intouchables will go towards launching another project (€500,000 has been donated and the average investment requires €5 million).

Bouygues has provided financial support to the charity since 2006.

French Ondine's syndrome associationFrench ondine's syndrome association

Ondine's curse, or congenital central hypoventilation syndrome (CCHS), is a failure of central nervous system control over breathing, mainly while asleep. Children suffering from the syndrome cannot breathe without assistance even if their lungs work and therefore need mechanical ventilation during sleep from birth onwards and indefinitely. The association aims to forge links between the parents of children with Ondine's syndrome and between the children themselves.

Since 2001, Bouygues has made an annual donation to finance a grant specifically for research into Ondine's syndrome.
