Romeo Mondes:
"I didn’t know anything about cranes to begin with, but I really like this job. Everything’s different, and cranes are different, some are easier to operate than others. Some are difficult, and there are also some sites that are harder than others. But I love it up here."

On screen:
Sequence showing close-up of Romeo’s face, then the site seen from the crane cab, view of the crane seen from the site and his colleagues working on ground level.

"I’ve got as many responsibilities as a foreman, but I’ve got to be careful and watch out."

Journalist:
"Don’t you feel a bit lonely?"

On screen:
Romeo in his cab

Romeo Mondes:
"No, you get used to it. It was a bit hard to begin with because I enjoyed chatting with the lads before. But you get used to it. We’re in touch through the radio and we have a laugh. It’s not bad."

Hadrien (Site manager):
"The crane operator plays a large part in the success of the works. A good crane operator hardly needs to use the radio, he knows exactly where things go, he knows when to hoist and lower. If he knows his job, everything goes smoothly."

Romeo Mondes:
"You’ve got to try it, and if the person, like me at the beginning, has never done it before, then he’ll probably enjoy it."
